Tuesday

O.k.  I think I am out of my funk.  I guess summer is officially over.  They closed the pool today.  This morning was 14 deg.  We will have a few more warm days, but that's it for this year.

School is back in full swing.  There were so many kids today, it was crazy.  I am glad it is getting busy, time will fly faster.

Started my typhoid pills this morning.  No reaction to them, thank goodness.  It is 4 pills taken over a week, with 1 day between each pill.  Easier taking them then giving Kayla her 2 pills twice a day.  Dang, she is getting sneaky.  Not many left though, poor girl.  She feels much better, so it is worth it.

Not a lot else happening right now.  School will take up all my energy for the next 2 weeks, then things will settle down as the kids get into the routine.

Only 41 days left, I can't believe how quickly it is going. You are going to have a fantastic time and being busy at work is just going to make the time go even more quickly. Glad that the pills aren't upsetting and that Kayla is progressing well. I hope the new little baby elephant is going to be OK. I have told myself I will adopt her if she progresses alright. I don't like the sound of her collapsing all the time though, it makes be feel worried for her. Weather is turning nasty here. Today is Wednesday and by the week end we are supposed to have high winds, lots of rain and only about 12 degrees. Doesn't sound like the week end is going to be too enjoyable. So sad. I was kind of expecting the news about the baby this morning. I was hoping she would make it, though. I guess she just didn't have the will. Poor thing. We have had a whole weekend of rain and cool temperatures, Labor day weekend always does it. Oooh, wildebeast on the tembe camera. Sorry, mind wandered. Three more weeks of biking to work, then it gets put away for the year. Knees are having a harder time this year. Woke up to 13 degrees and no sun, so I hear what you are saying. Take care, luv. xo

Yes, me too. I was thinking of her but I didn't really think she was going to make it. I didn't like that she kept collapsing, not a good sign I thought. Seems that way with long week ends doesn't it, extra day off and the weather isn't pleasant. We have one shortly, the first week end in October is always one. I am going to drive up to Gunnedah on Tuesday evening (27th Sept) stay with Ross for a day or so and then we are going to Lauren's on the 29th (Thursday) and then coming back on the Monday 3rd October. Think I will take Dad's little car. He has had four flat batteries lately because he hardly drives it anywhere so it could do with a run. Four year old Toyota Corolla with 5,000 kms on the clock. He probably won't drive after next June, as he will be 85 and they have to go for a big practical test. It will be a good buy for someone. Lauren is going to Vietnam on Sept 20 returning on 30th. So we will be at her place for a couple of days before she returns and then a couple of days after. We haven't been up for a stay in a while so I'm looking forward to it. Jackie is coming, although I don't think she realises it yet. She loves it up there, it is like a second home for her. The beach is only two blocks from LJ's and Jackie loves chasing waves. Great little cafe's in the area too. It is a lovely area, no McDonalds, traffic lights or buildings over three storey's, very village atmosphere. Julie xoxox

It has been a strange day, weather wise.  Woke up to pouring rain, then beautiful sunshine, the pouring rain again.  Weird.  I am really missing Mumbushi this week.  Loved that little guy.  FB is getting a little weird.  We had a really nice group, then it grew.  In some ways it is a little better, in some ways, I liked the group we had.  Can you tell I don't like change too much?  I think I am just feeling too sentimental tonight.  Missing all my babies and can't wait to see them.  Mumbushi was only with us a short time, but he touched a lot of lives.  I am so sorry I never got to meet him.  Oh, Lord, the tears are starting. Ah, another week has gone by.  16 days left before I leave.  I realized today that it is not traveling that I am nervous about.  I think I have this fairy tale opinion of Africa that I had had since I was a kid.  I have dreamed of going for so long.  But with all that's going on, my views have shattered.   I always thought of Africa as deep jungles, lost rivers and exotic locations.  Maybe it was like that when I was a kid, but that was 45 years ago.  A lot changes in that time. Back to work tomorrow.  The weekend was a complete write-off.  Pouring rain, cold, miserable.  But I got a lot done.  Washed all the bedding from the guests last week.  So everything is good. Long weekend next week.  Our Thanksgiving.  I am invited to the "future in-laws??" for dinner.  Am looking forward to it.  Such a great family.  I am so glad Greg met Allie.  She is a wonderful girl (woman). Monday

Have been doing a lot of thinking tonight.  I realize I can hold a grudge.  In my life, I have been abandoned by 2 mothers and a father.  However both mothers decided to come back into my life around the same time.  And it was a case of "let's forget about what was and there was nothing in the middle".  Everything is normal, we go on as if nothing happened.  Excuse me, but FUCK THAT.  I am not going to forget everything and just act like everything is normal.  I hate swearing, but there are a few times when it is warranted and this is one of them. Sorry for the rant.  It just really ticks me off that they expect me to be available when they decide to show up, like it's a family obligation.  There has never actually been a family situation.
